The story

There was a time and state of mind of people living in Armenia, when each detail from the culture was a value, more expensive than any golden coin.

“Aman” means “plate” in Armenian. Our restaurant preserves the legend of an ancient plate from a family in Old Ijevan, passed down through generations. According to the story, one piece could grow a secret plant.

On the night before it was to be gifted, one child tried to take it secretly, but the plate broke. Legend says a piece remains on the site of today’s Old Ijevan hotel and restaurant. We honor and protect this mysterious piece as a cultural and legendary treasure.

According to legend, long ago in Ijevan, there was a family that owned an ancient family plate, passed down through generations. People believed that if a magical flower could be grown on this plate, it would bring good fortune.

However, when the time came to pass the plate to the next generation, one of the children tried to keep it for themselves. The plate accidentally fell and shattered, leaving behind just one shard.

This shard was later discovered on the site where the Old Ijevan Hotel and Restaurant now stand. Today, it is kept in the History Museum of Armenia and served as the inspiration for the restaurant’s name and design.
